Events Description

UCalgary’s School of Creative and Performing Arts is excited to continue its Faculty Series with Detour de Force on January 14.

Acclaimed soprano duo Laura Hynes and Audrey Luna (Detour de Force) team up to perform their program When I Lay Me Down to Sleep:

From fantastical magic creatures to (very) twisted fairy tales and nightmares, dynamic duo Detour de Force presents a dreamscape of repertoire including Purcell, Haydn, Mendelssohn, Wolf, Weill, and contemporary composers Jake Heggie, Tom Cipullo, and William Bolcom, among others. Join us for a recital of song spanning utopian fantasies to dystopian dreams.

Laura Hynes has performed opera roles, solo recitals, and concerts throughout Europe and the U.S. She has also been awarded degrees from the Paris Conservatory, Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and Miami University. Dr. Hynes is currently an Assistant Professor of Voice and Opera at UCalgary.

Audrey Luna has enjoyed a widely varied career singing dozens of opera roles, as well as oratorio, chamber music, solo recitals and contemporary music worldwide. Ms. Luna teaches Voice and Alexander Technique at Miami University and SongFest.
