Events Description
Sustainival is bringing the world’s first green carnival to Downtown Edmonton from June 8 to 11. Fan Park @ ICE District will host the family carnival complete with a full-size midway with over 45 rides and games, interactive displays, community vendors and a variety of educational activities highlighting the future of innovation—which is operated completely on renewable energy.
Sustainival is a sustainability education organization with a mission to educate the public on a wide range of topics focused on sustainability, including: the environment, arts and culture, social sustainability, and more. Sustainival is dedicated to the exploration of renewable technologies and their ability to power our world. In partnership with local educational organizations, such as the Telus World of Science and the Future Energy Systems team, displays demonstrations and activations that engage attendees in the real-world applications of sustainable technologie.
Sustainival also features a site-wide scavenger hunt called the Green Beast Eco Challenge. This Amazing Race style game features clues hidden all around the midway that help participants solve a puzzle comprised of facts about the environment, renewable energy, energy use, and how Canadians use energy and resources in their daily lives.
The Green Marketplace is a space for conversations about the latest in sustainable products, innovations, campaigns, and getting involved in community initiatives. Attendees can browse a selection of local vendors selling sustainably made products from jewelry to gadgets, and can chat with local and national organizations and companies working to make their communities more sustainable.
