Events Description

The IMPROMPTU Cabaret Festival

Get up close and personal with exceptional musical artists from around Vancouver, each crafting their own one-hour cabaret – sharing their favorite songs, stories, and talent at the intimate Havana Theatre.

Peter Jorgensen (Artistic Producer, Patrick Street Productions), whose own solo cabaret at the Havana in 2003 garnered him a Jessie Richardson Nomination, will facilitate the development of each cabaret in conjunction with the performers.

“Impromptu has two meanings: ‘done without being planned, organized, or rehearsed’ and ‘a short piece of music, especially a solo, that is reminiscent of an improvisation.’ It reflects both a musical idea as well as the spur of the moment inspiration to make it happen,” says Jorgensen. “We want each performer to present an hour full of song that feels personal, intimate, and a little off-the-cuff.”

Slated performers will run the gamut from musical theatre and classical to blues, folk, pop and rock, and explore a myriad of fascinating topics including fatherhood, divorce, dating, feminism, self-image, creative branding and the state of today’s world.

Sit down with your favorite talents from our local stages and watch them spin their personal brand of magic!
