Luminous Voices values its strong reputation for championing new music. Exploring themes of travel and lifes journeys, both expected and unexpected, this program features the world premiere of a new commission by Canadian composer Heather Schmidt – entitled “In Canadian Woods” – through the support of Dr. Irene Kyle. Calgary’s storied Springbank Trio, Laurie Syer (violin), Tom Mirhady (cello) and Jamie Syer (piano), with pianist Jane Perry, returns to the stage to perform Ravel’s Trio of 1914 and Shostakovich’s Trio No. 2, along with shorter works for cello and piano by Tchaikovsky and Chopin. Details
