Events Description

From May 17 to June 4 , in order to further support local music and artists, Radio-Canada’s musical radio station comes with Le petit Festival ICI MUSIQUE . She will not wait for summer to put even more sunshine in the hearts of her listeners and will offer them her own house festival; a day of performances by local artists, the unveiling of the new version of Révélations Radio-Canada, thematic weeks in the evening with Yannick Nézet-Séguin and Kent Nagano and a series of concerts with musicians and ensembles several regions of the country.

Musicians across the country have experienced milder skies. With tours and festivals canceled, most of them try to keep this precious contact with an audience that craves music and entertainment. This is why ICI Musique is launching its little Festival, which will take place from May 17 to June 4 in order to support local artists. On the menu, a day of virtual performances, special events, the unveiling of our famous Revelations, concerts by the Montreal Symphony Orchestra and treasures from the archives!

On Sunday May 17, when the festival season was to start, ICI Musique will present StudioFest, a house festival broadcast on the web and animated by Philippe Fehmiu. From 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. a dozen artists will parade – including Coeur de pirate , Émile Proulx-Cloutier , Les soeurs Boulay and Élisapie – who will offer mini-concerts, most of them live. The musicians who will be in the spotlight during this day were all to perform at different festivals this summer. It is a way to greet them, as well as the organizations that support music festivals.

To participate in the event, go to the ICI Music Festival page and the ICI Music Facebook page the day of the event.

The unveiling of the 2020-2021 Revelations

It’s always a very exciting time; the one where we announce what will be our Revelations for the next 12 months! This is the thirteenth consecutive year that Radio-Canada has honored artists who stand out among the next generation of musicians.

New this year, rap now has its own category, alongside the other four already in place (song, jazz, world music, classical). It is on May 20 at 9 a.m. on the Pénélope show that we will know the names of the artists who will succeed Dominique Fils-Aimé , Les Louanges , Djely Tapa and Cameron Crozeman .

Three special series to Whole music

From May 18 to 21, 2020
Yannick Nezet-Séguin: music and love

“We do a job based on love, ” said Yannick Nézet-Séguin one day. It is around this great theme that the series of four programs will be articulated that the conductor will co-host alongside Marie-Christine Trottier, from Monday May 18 to Thursday May 21 at 8 p.m., on the program Tout une musique .

He will make us hear great orchestral works, of course, especially with his accomplices of the Metropolitan Orchestra and the Philadelphia Orchestra, but also the piano, opera, chamber music and choral music.

May 25-28, 2020
Kent Nagano: a legacy music

Kent Nagano’s contribution to the musical life of Quebec, and Montreal in particular, will remain etched in the cultural history of the city. Nothing was more important for Kent Nagano than the contact he had developed with the Quebec public during all these years at the head of the OSM.

From Monday May 25 to Thursday May 28, at Tout une musique , music lovers will be able to hear it at the head of the OSM in several works that have marked its Montreal journey.

During these broadcasts, we will have the chance to hear Kent Nagano talk to host Marie-Christine Trottier about what he has learned from his visit to Montreal.
