The Victorians did Halloween to death, so why celebrate this great old custom in a cold modern space when you can do it up right in the warmly authentic charm of Alberta’s most charismatic Victorian mansion!
With our producing partner Sage Theatre we have crafted a fascinating night of local ghost-story lore ; three devilishly fun ghost stories performed by Zack Running Coyote, a local Mi’gmaq playwright, actor, musician, screenwriter, shapeshifter and story scavenger. Zach’s stories will capture your imagination and delight your sensibilities. You may know Zach from his performance as Romeo in last summer’s acclaimed Theatre Calgary online production of Romeo & Juliet. Zach’s indigenous heritage is an exciting component of this event, as telling stories orally is a fundamental tradition of indigenous communities and Zach will bring that cultural background to his performance in a home that was built by an indigenous matriarch (Lady Isabella Lougheed was Métis).
Zach is preparing two ghost stories that have local indigenous origins and a third by M.R. James, the legendary 19th century English crafter of terror tales.
This performance will be scary, but your COVID-era health & safety should not be, so we’ve gone above & beyond provincial health guidelines to ensure that your All Hallows Eve experience here will be safe, spacious and special!
Here is how we have configured the event to ensure your enjoyment and safety:
Only 36 tickets will be sold to each performance, and guests will be seated at nine tables placed at a safe distance of at least two metres apart and spread out across four rooms in our spectacular main floor. When purchasing your tickets, choose the table that best aligns with your comfort level. You can choose to sit in the live performance room where you’re 2 metres from our performer Zack Running Coyote or a semi-live experience where you are in the adjacent room and receive his performance through a direct stream to a large video screen. For our semi-live experience, we also provide private seating where you and your cohort are alone in your own room.
Your snack box and beverages will be provided via table service by Chef Judy Wood’s professional serving staff. You will be asked to remain at your table when socializing with your guests/cohort. All patrons must be masked when moving though out our space.
Lougheed House will be decorated with the flair of a Victorian Halloween, and the ambiance of a dimly lit heritage mansion will ensure an immersive, memorable experience.
We strongly encourage you to dress up in costume!
In order to ensure the safety of all, upon your arrival at Lougheed House, each guest must present at our Admissions Desk a completed hard copy of this Health Questionnaire. Thank you for providing this information and monitoring your own health on the day of the event.
