Say hello to the Big Big Tent in Calgary’s Culture & Entertainment District, where family-friendly events will be hosted throughout the entire month of August.
The Big Big Tent event series in east Victoria Park kicks off on August 1st with a screening of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Bring your family, your friends, a chair to sit on, and don’t forget your wand! We’ll hit play on the movie at 7:30pm, but feel free to come earlier to join in on some wizarding fun, like interactive quidditch demonstrations from the Calgary Quidditch Club. And plan to come ready to snack, because we’ll have great food trucks on site serving up goodies:

Family Bike Day at the Big Big Tent
Big big or small small, bring your family over to the Big Big Tent this Monday, August 5th for a day of friendly competition, bonding and putting the pedal to the metal!
Here’s all the fun you’ll find under the Big Big Tent: Strider Bikes Canada’s STRIDER Adventure Zone, designed especially for young cyclists aged 18 months to 5 years, A safety & demo area with Lime bikes and scooters, A bus bike rack demo from City of Calgary Bicycle Program, who will also have bikeway maps and guides of cycle track tips on hand, Free bike maintenance clinics from Rath Bicycle at 11:00am and 2:00pm. Rath will also have a selection of bike accessories (pumps, locks, etc) for sale, All-day DJ, Joeoui Musique, Family Cheesed food truck.
Summer Outdoor Skate Parties
CMLC and Calgary Roller Skate are excited to bring to Calgary an amazing outdoor skate party every week for the month of August. There will be an outdoor tent, DJs, food trucks and good vibes!
Ninetimes Skateboard Park
Unleash your inner skater boi (or gurl) at the Big Big Tent, where you can drop in to experience some sick ramps provided by Market Collective. With partners from Ninetimes Skate Shop, Skatelife Calgary, 100% SKATE CLUB and Academy Skateboard Collective, you’ll be rolling rain or shine on an acre of fresh asphalt.
21st Annual Slurpee Cup Charity Street Hockey Tournament: Come watch your favourite Calgary establishments compete for the legendary Slurpee Cup! Teams include the National Music Centre, Calgary Underground Film Festival, The Hifi Club, Fiasco Gelato, and more! Food Trucks provided by YYCFoodTrucks, and drinks provided by Blindman Brewing and Wild Rose Brewery.
Movie Night #2: We’ve got a big screen, big stars and a Big Big Tent, all lined up for our second movie night and the last event of our summer series! Want to have your say in which movie gets played? Stop by one of the Big Big Tent events throughout August to cast your vote!
