Events Description

The RSCDS Calgary Branch is hosting a free Virtual Burns Night on Saturday, January 23rd at 7:30 pm MST! Everyone is welcome including our members as well as friends from across the province, country and around the world.
The Zoom event will open at 7:00 pm MST, so sign in early to catch up with friends and make sure you are connected. Feel free to get dressed up, bring some haggis, tatties and neeps, and pour yourself a wee dram or a cuppa, your choice! Then sit back and enjoy a celebration of Robbie Burns.
The traditional Burns Night festivities will begin at 7:30 pm.
Presentations will include:
Piping in the Haggis
Address to the Haggis
Piping out the Haggis
Immortal Memory
Recitation of Tam O-Shanter
Toast to the Lassies and Response
Auld Lang Syne – a special musical presentation by The Tartan Ties (Judi Nicolson, Ian Muir, Fred Collins, Kathy Fraser-Collins) with guests
After the presentations, slip on your dance shoes and clear the furniture for a short dance program of 3 easy Burns-related Scottish Country dances. Or, if you prefer, just relax and enjoy the music. Tartan Ties with guest musicians, Heather Cameron and Scott Duncan, have specially recorded the dance music for us for this event. The Dance program will include a jig, strathspey and reel; Cutty Sark, Lea Rig and Ha! Ha! The Wooing’ O’ It; with one walk through led by Sharon Barker before the band plays.
