Events Description

Please join us for some free family fun for Earth Hour, “Calgary Unplugged”.

Join us for music, entertainment, and learn what environmental actions you can take in Calgary. Participants can engage with magnetic induction systems, experience producing 300 watts of power on pedal powered bike generators, play interactive games to learn about Alberta’s renewable energy sources, and more! All non-essential lighting in the library will be turned off from 8:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Bring along some personal lighting and dance to the DJ when the lights go down for the Earth Hour party!

You can still participate in Earth Hour if you can’t make it to the event! Turn off nonessential lights, “unplug” from electronics at 8:30 p.m. and take this time to reconnect with people, play games or enjoy hobbies.

On Saturday, March 23, 2024, The City of Calgary joins other governments, organizations and citizens around the world in shutting off the lights for Earth Hour from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

All non-essential and decorative lighting will be turned off in the following locations:
