Events Description
• Reduced Admission Costs – paid admission will be discounted for the month of February ($19.95 for adults and $9.95 for children). Regular discounts are still applicable. Tickets are on sale now.
• Member Perks
o When a member brings a guest during the month of February, the guest gets in for $10.
o Surprise & Delight – When members show their membership card at Kitamba Café or Tusk n’ Grill during the Family Day Weekend (Feb 13-15) they will receive one free zoo cookie per membership.
• ‘Bugs or Bouquets’ Fundraiser – We will be inviting our community to ‘show their love’ for our zoo animals from February 1-14 through a fundraiser that supports the purchase of food items (bugs or vegetable bouquets). Donors will receive a personal Valentine and can then tune into our Facebook lives on Feb 15 and 23 to see our hippos and meerkats enjoying their special treats. We’ll also give a shout out to our donor community during these lives as our way of thanking them for their support.
• Bugs – $15 minimum donation
• Bouquets – $50 minimum donation
• Show your love to our gorilla troop – Did you know that some cell phone parts use coltan? Coltan is an ore mined in the Democratic Republic of Congo – where gorillas live.
The deforestation and mining associated with coltan production has impacted and displaced gorillas, moving them closer to extinction. Recycling and extending the life of electronic devices reduces the demand for coltan mining. When we lessen the demand for coltan, we are helping to protect gorillas in the wild!
WHAT: Gorillas on the Line (cell phone recycling campaign)
WHEN: February 1, 2021 – September 24, 2021
WHERE: Bring your old cell phones (and small hand-held electronics) to the Calgary Zoo for recycling. Our guest relations team will gladly accept your donated devices at the North Gate (main entrance) before you enter the zoo grounds.
