A native of Mexico City, Chef Alli Said found his love for cooking at an early age. Alli credits both his mother and grandmothers cooking as well as his families busy catering company for pushing him into the culinary arts. After studying for 5 years at the Universidad del Valle de Mexico, and under some of the best Mexican chefs known worldwide, his love for food and travel brought him to Canada 11 years ago. After given the opportunity to work at Mikey’s Juke Joint (now Mikey’s on 12th), he is now co-owner of both Mikey’s on 12th and Mikey’s Taco Shop (which opened last summer). Bringing his true authentic Mexican style of food to both shops has elevated Mexican food in Calgary to another level, often leading to partnering with other talented chefs in the city for beer and wine dinners, competitions and popups. The art, quality ingredients and style put into his food show just how talented Chef Alli Said is.
