Events Description

Join us for Creekfest – Reimagined beginning on Saturday, July 18! This free family celebration of nature is a component of the Friends’ Watershed Awareness Campaign, designed to raise awareness in communities near the park about protecting our local waterways. Kids and families can have fun learning about environmental stewardship, conservation and biodiversity from local organizations and performers!

  • Take a Calm Break Guided Meditation online with Divya Singh (previously recorded)
  • Evergreen Theatre – That’s the Truth – Learn about Bees, Spiders, Climate Change and more, YouTube
  • Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park Foundation – Wildflower Count for Kids, YouTube
  • Ghost Watershed Alliance Society – Learn about the City of Calgary’s source watersheds and how they are part of providing safe drinking water to the City of Calgary, YouTube
  • Biosphere Institute of the Bow Valley – WildSmart Program – Handling (and Avoiding) Bear Encounters, YouTube
  • Trout Unlimited Canada, YouTube

Creekfest – Reimagined will take place during the week of July 18 – 24 and this year’s program will focus on staying connected to each other and to the Fish Creek Community. While it is currently not possible to host a large gathering, the Friends are planning to welcome a variety of community-focused organizations and enable them to share their message of conservation with the community. This week-long series of educational and entertaining content will focus on environmental stewardship in Fish Creek Provincial Park and throughout the province.

Participating groups include Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation, Trout Unlimited Canada, Alberta Wilderness Association, Tower Garden by Juice Plus, Elbow River Watershed Partnership, Bettina Sieger, Evergreen Theatre, CPAWS-SAB, Ghost Watershed, Divya Singh, Little Wonders Learning, Nature Conservancy of Canada and more!

This week-long series of educational and entertaining content will focus on environmental stewardship in Fish Creek Provincial Park and throughout the province. Through new innovations for outreach and engagement, we are hoping to reach an even wider audience than we could through a one-day event.

As the situation surrounding Covid-19 continues to evolve, the Friends will also adapt and shape Creekfest – Reimagined into a truly amazing and memorable event that will benefit the Fish Creek Community. Thank you to Creekfest supporters Land Stewardship Centre of Canada, funded by Alberta Environment at Parks, Miistakis Institute, Calgary Foundation, City of Calgary, Alberta Environment and Parks Watershed Resiliency and Restoration, and TD Park People Grants.
