Maaris has had a long interest in abstract art. In creating abstract portraits, he has found a way to combine abstract and academic styles of representation. He expresses his thoughts, feelings and emotions in an abstract manner.
His miniature sculptures are created using concrete. Concrete is everywhere, part of our manmade environment.
For the first time, Maarisis including photography in one of his exhibitions. With his camera he is looking for art in nature. His photography series is titled Abstract Nature. His areas of interest in photography are flowers, street photography, trees and portraits.
This is Maaris’ first solo exhibition in Canada.
