Events Description

This live-stream offers a brief look at history of the LGBTQ+ Community on the Canadian Prairies from Alberta to Manitoba. Pushing beyond the perception of queerness as exclusively urban, this talk will present a rich and diverse history of the queer community after the Second World War.

Facilitated by Victoria Bucholtz

** This workshop is a part of an online Learning Series supported by Intact Insurance – Intact Assurance and presented by Calgary Pride, with additional support from the Employment and Social Development Canada, Calgary Foundation and the Canadian Red Cross. We will be offering a variety of workshops that will be open to the public on multiple diverse topics geared towards effective allyship within LGBTQ2S+ community. **

In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, Calgary Pride, as an inhabitant of Calgary Alberta, honours and acknowledges Moh’kinsstis and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani as well as the Lyarhe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that the territory we work and live upon is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland.
