The RBC Emerging Director’s Showcase

Lunchbox Theatre will once again present the work of an aspiring, up and coming young director. The RBC Emerging Director’s Showcase is a unique opportunity for Lunchbox Theatre to provide mentorship to an emerging Calgary artist, and for our audiences to have the opportunity to see the work of Calgary’s next great director.

Care Takers: A new teacher at a rigid British high school is disturbed by the possibility that a pupil is being bullied because of his sexuality. In the absence of concrete evidence, an ambitious deputy principal refuses to take action. Separated by motive, ideologies, and years of experience, these two women engage in an emotional and intellectual battle over the school system and the safeties it should provide to the most vulnerable among us. This intense two-hander has no easy answers as we confront the explosive tensions between protocol and reality.
