Events Description
Join us on Saturday, January 18th, 2020, at 5:00 pm at the Genesis Centre for the 14th Annual Miskanawah Friendship Round Dance. Steeped in tradition, the Round Dance is a social gathering that brings thousands of people together to celebrate friendship, family, diversity, and inclusivity.
The Round Dance is a family-friendly event that honours the memories of loved ones through singing, dancing, and a cultural feast. This event celebrates First Nations culture and features original works of art, jewelry, and textiles by local Indigenous artists. The public is invited to join in the celebration and experience the power of friendship and community. Admission is by donation. Proceeds from this event will go towards supporting vulnerable children, youth, and families throughout Calgary.
Miskanawah (mis-con-a-wa), Cree for “many little roads and paths,” is a non-profit organization that works with vulnerable children, youth, and families to build skills and resiliency. We work from a harm-reduction and strength-based perspective towards healing, strength, and reconciliation for Calgarians. For more information, to volunteer or to sponsor the Round Dance, please visit https://miskanawah.ca/annual-round-dance.
