The GlobalFest Urban Arts Program uses the foundations of Hip-Hop culture to improve the lives of young Canadians. This specialized arts curriculum helps youth build mental wellness and confidence while developing artistic skillsets. Our mission is committed to building the understanding of diversity by enriching students’ experiences in addition to the arts, culture and heritage programs delivered in Calgary schools.
From 13 January to 22 April, 2020, the GlobalFest Urban Arts Program is offering three dynamic and engaging Afterschool Winter Workshops at the Sunalta Community Hall.
Monday: Breaking + Street Dance
Breaking is rooted in hiphop culture. This dance consists of footwork, freezes, top rock, power moves and is characterized by each dancer individually. Students will explore the wide range of possibilities in the class with Kevin Choo – from training to battles, choreography and cyphering.
