The second weekend of the comedy Festival. This will be a live stand-up show on stage and shown on the BIG screen above so all can see. Featuring: James Mullinger, with special guests
And Host Sam MacDonald
The plaid-bearing sweetie-pie of comedy, Joe is an island born comedian who has been charming stages across Atlantic Canada. Through personal experiences and mind-altered observations, Joe is sure to make you laugh your masks off.
James Mullinger was one of the UK’s top comedians and the Comedy Editor for GQ magazine when he moved to Canada six years ago. Since his arrival, he has taken the country by storm. Sold out shows across the country, appearances on CBC’s The Debaters, movies, TV shows, festivals, awards, stand up specials – he’s done it all.
An award-winning writer, comedian and filmmaker, he spent 15 years in a senior position at British GQ magazine, interviewing everyone from Jerry Seinfeld and Paul Rudd to Rachel Weisz and Scarlett Johansson and launching the magazine’s digital division. In April 2016 and 2018, James sold out Harbour Station Arena in New Brunswick, outselling both Jerry Seinfeld and Guns N Roses at the same venue.
His latest stand up special, Almost Canadian, shot straight to #1 on the iTunes charts and was nominated for a Canadian Comedy Award for Best Taped Live Performance. It is available to watch internationally on Amazon Prime Video.
Brad Dorion is as funny as he is hairy, which is a lot. His comedy career started in Ottawa and Vancouver but he has called PEI home since 2018. He performs Comedy regularly around the province but always finds enough time to spend time with his cats. Brad’s comedic goals are humble and realistic, he wants a five bathroom house and a gold-plated Tesla (he is an environmentalist after all).
Katherine is originally from Hamilton, Ontario, but now calls PEI the place she was always meant to live. Katherine was a finalist in CBC’s Hubcap Open Mic Stand-up Competition 2020. She has featured at the PEI Brewing Company, and played shows at Hells Basement Comedy Club, Baba’s Lounge, and the Pump House. Katherine is excited to be back on stage for the first time since “the world got weird”.
Sam MacDonald, Your Host:
Sam MacDonald is a man who hates hats but wears many. He is a professional wrestling manager, writer, actor of stage and film, comedian, trivia host, MC, fashion icon and all around good dude. A multi-award winner, Sam has found success in his work; he was awarded “Most Unique Concept” at Fringe 2017 for his interview series “What’s so Funny About?”, James Mullinger’s Comedy Bootcamp title “Funniest Person on PEI” and the Spotlight Award from the City of Charlottetown’s Arts and Culture Awards. In 2018 he was made the PEI Ambassador for the Canadian Association of Stand Up Comedians, a position he holds proudly. Despite being a multi award winner in his fields he still regrets not winning enough tickets for a sweet Run DMC mirror from the Exhibition at the tender age of 12.
