Two of the defining moments of Canada’s role in liberating northwestern Europe during WWII happened within a few hundred miles of each other – the Canadian-led raid against the German-occupied port of Dieppe, France, and two years later the D-Day assaults against Hitler’s Atlantic Wall in Normandy, France, by the Allied forces of Britain, America and Canada. Were the two operations related? Why was one considered a disaster, the other a victory? What was it like for individual Canadians involved? Even after 75 years, questions remain. Join historians David O’Keefe (author of One Day in August
) and Ted Barris (author of JUNO: Canadians at D-Day
) for an evening of discovery, storytelling and reflection in From Dieppe to D-Day – the Untold Story
