Bonnie Doon Centre is proud to partner with the Edmonton Chinese Bilingual Education Association (ECBEA) and host a Year of the Rat Lunar New Year celebration on Saturday, February 1 from 11 am to 4 pm!
This FREE community celebration will kick off with a Live Dragon Dance at 11 am in the Promo Court as they make their way parading around the mall. Other activities include a Wishing Tree, Calligraphy, Games, Photobooth, Crafts and more!
Featuring more than 300 Mandarin bilingual student performers showcasing Chinese dance, music, martial arts, and other cultural activities—including the exciting Dragon and Lion Dances— the ECBEA Chinese New Year event guarantees a warm and inviting space to beat the winter chill. This free, volunteer-run event also features carnival and cultural games, face painting, balloon animals, and more as we celebrate the Chinese New Year of the Rat. Learn a few phrases of Chinese, try your hand at calligraphy, and learn more about Edmonton Public Schools’ widely acclaimed Chinese (Mandarin) Bilingual Program.
