Events Description

The Chinatown and Area Business Association proudly presents the fourth annual Moonlight Carnival. This year’s celebration will feature carefully curated performances, lantern making and our popular Mooncake masterclass.

Please pre-register for the Mooncake masterclass to ensure we have enough supplies for all those wishing to learn how to make traditional mooncakes.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a holiday that is celebrated by almost all Asian countries and cultures. It is a festival that celebrates family, unity, harvest, the moon and so much more. It is deeply rooted in the Chinese culture and is one of the most important holidays for the Chinese. We want to share our holiday spirit with the rest of Edmonton and we would like you to help us show off our joy for the holiday.

Mooncakes are a very important part of the Mid-Autumn Festival. It is sweet and with a pastry casing that is different from any other western baking. Under the delicious pastry is a red bean paste that has been sweetened and underneath that are salty egg yolks. These little gems are the perfect marriage of savory and sweet. If you would like to try your hand at making your own mooncake please RSVP. Limited space available.
