The Mill Creek Colliery Band, Edmonton’s British-style brass band, is pleased to announce its premiere concert of the 2019-20 season, ‘Westward Ho!
The band will perform an exciting program of music that celebrates the North America West. You’ll be thrilled by pieces such as The Cowboy’s Overture (Williams/Sykes) and Hoe Down from ‘Rodeo’ (Copland/ Snell). Some familiar themes from old spaghetti westerns will be featured in Wild West (Morricone/Smith). The Canadian West will be celebrated in Songs From The Qu’appelle Valley (Forsyth) and An Alberta Suite (Broadbent). Our trombone section will be featured in Western Trombones (Mann).
We encourage you to dress up in some western garb, practice your western drawls and “Yeeehaawws”, saddle-up your horses, and come and join us for a brassy hoe-down under the direction of David Hoyt.
The Mill Creek Colliery Band (MCCB) seeks to promote the British brass band tradition in Western Canada, employing all the traditional instruments of that ensemble.
