Edmonton’s own 28-piece, British-style brass band is proud to present this wonderful celebration of women in music. We will feature several fine compositions/arrangements by women, most of which have not been previously performed in Edmonton. These include Four Minute Mile (Judith Bingham), The Unfortunate Traveller (Imogen Holst), Carnival (Helen Perkin), Skyfall (Adele Adkins & Paul Epworth), and War Cry (Dorothy Gates).
Several of the many talented ladies in our band will be featured as soloists including Doreen Moisan (flugel horn) in Through The Fair (Chelsea Pascoe), Nancy Thornhill (trombone) in There Will Be God (Joy Webb), and Suzanne Langor, Jane de Caen, and Carol Thurgood (tenor horns) in Trio Con Brio (Gordon Langford). The band is also honored to present the world premiere arrangement (for brass band) of the patriotic French-Canadian March, Carillon, arranged by Carol Thurgood. The band will be led by its principal conductor, David Hoyt, and our compere will be Dr. Angela Schroeder.
The Mill Creek Colliery Band (MCCB) seeks to promote the British brass band tradition in Western Canada, employing all the traditional instruments of that ensemble.
