Events Description
Arcady wishes to take you on a colourful winter journey and conjure up thoughts and memories of the holiday season. On Saturday, November 27th at 7:30pm, a limited seating version of Arcady’s seasonal production There’s a Song in the Air: A Timeless Holiday Classic will be presented at Central Presbyterian Church in Brantford. This entertaining and upbeat production will feature new and traditional holiday music written and arranged by Arcady’s artistic director Ronald Beckett. Beckett’s holiday music will leave an unforgettable impression on first hearing. The Strings and Soloists of Arcady promise a fabulous evening that the whole family can enjoy!
Critics have delighted in the music of Beckett presented by Arcady. In the words of Robert Reid of Kitchener-Waterloo Record, “He reminds us that Christmas music remains vital not only because of songs, carols and hymns from the past, but because of new music.” James Reaney of London Free Press called it, “Austere and beautiful in its long-ago way.” Murray Charters of Ontario Arts Review added, “To me, it felt like he had tied the age of chivalry and the modern age together with a warm Christmas ribbon.”
The concert will also feature the world premiere of “My Love Went Home on Christmas Morning” by local composer Emma Verdonk of Brantford and three premiers by Shawn Oakes.
