About Fort Garry Horse Museum & Archives

The museum displays the history of the Fort Garry Horse Regiment from its origins to the present time through use of artifacts, photographs and archival material. The museum has three display rooms and a library with the larger artifacts displayed either around the armoury or outdoors.

What to Do at Fort Garry Horse Museum & Archives?

 

See displays from the formation of the regiment in 1912 at the LCol SJ Cox room. You can see full size diorama of a First World War horse and rider. Photographs, weapons, medals, uniforms, and many more artifacts and archival materials displays the history of the Regiment. The history of the Garrys in World War II is displayed in BGen REA Morton room, while BGen RW Paterson room festures unifroms from 1912 to the present. On the parade square, you can see the wheeled rocket launcher, demolition vehicle, and dispatch rider’s motorcycle. Outside the building you can see a vintage Sherman tank, a Lynx tracked reconnaissance vehicle.
