We are two families with young children who got accused of stealing the apples after the owner have seen us to pour the picked apples in the plastic basin in the car’s trunk. We tried to explain that it was from two bags which we presented as empty and explained that we are done picking. However it wasn’t good enough for him so he continued yelling and swearing at us in the presence of our kids and all bystanders. It was unreal as we’ve never been harrassed like that before. In order to avoid to argue we offered to pay and he agree on $20. But as soon as he got money in his hand, he changed his mind and throw it back in our faces and kept swearing badly. We asked what he wants us to do and he proposed to go all the way to the front cash to pay it to his wife. As soon as we approached the cash register he announced in front of about 50 bystanders that we are the thieves who wants to pay. At this point we just wanted for this nightmare to be over. So we gave money to his wife and as soon as she accept it, she notified us that we are under civil arrest and we can’t leave until the police will arrive. We were just in disbelief and kids started to cry. So we decided to just leave. Imagine how we were surprised when on the way to the car we met the owner who fist bumped us and said that “sh!# happens!”. They didn’t even care what traumatic experience they just dragged us through and tried to scam us for money. Horrible people and poor business operators!
Btw only after this incident we found on TripAdvisor a few more similar incidents in the past where they were making people pay $500 for allegedly stealing the apples.
Please consider other orchards as this one has nothing to offer – no petting zoo, no food, only a few apple trees, no apple picking tools were provided so you have to actually climb the trees, and the most importantly you could be easily insulted and harrassed by owners.
    Never again!!!
