Events Description
Mélanie’s eight-year-old son Benoit has been complaining of persistent pain, so she takes him to the dentist—which, of course, sets off an epic tantrum. Because with Benoit, things are never simple. Sure enough, once he’s in the dentist’s chair, they find a lot more than cavities in his mouth … And so Mélanie, assisted by a receptionist as altruistic as she is alcoholic and a dentist who’d rather talk to plants than people, is forced to admit that her son may be suffering from more than just a toothache.
With Le Soulier, a bipolar comedy populated by engaging characters striving to be happy, Théâtre la Seizième makes a triumphant return to Zones Théâtrales. Playwright David Paquet, recipient of the 2010 Governor General’s Literary Award and the 2017 Prix auteur dramatique from the Centre du Théâtre d’Aujourd’hui, offers us a hilarious and disturbing text where empathy carries more weight than illness.
