Hosted by Billboard Top 10 Blues Artist, IBC Winner, and JUNO Nominee, Canadian singer/guitarist JW-JONES!
JW is a lifelong student of the blues and has recorded or performed with (on stage with, rather than ‘opened for’): Buddy Guy (6 times), Hubert Sumlin, Charlie Musselwhite, Kim Wilson, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Colin James, David “Fathead” Newman, Pinetop Perkins, Junior Watson, Colin Linden, Reese Wynans (Stevie Ray Vaughan), Anson Funderburgh, Little Charlie Baty, and many others, including Hollywood celebrities Dan Aykroyd and Jeremy Renner.
Jones has studied many genres and styles including B.B King, Jimmie, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, T-Bone Walker, Freddie King, Albert King, Muddy Waters, Otis Rush, Albert Collins, and many more. His class on “how to build a guitar solo” has been a hit at the annual Hornby Island Blues Workshop in BC.
This will be a 2-hour seminar and will have interactive elements as students are encouraged to bring their guitars so that they can mimic and try out the ideas in real time. Some students might even find themselves on stage as guinea pigs with JW.
Unplugged electric guitars are preferred as they will not distract or interrupt others as much. Amplifiers will not be permitted. Please bring a clip-on tuner if you have one.
Topics for the seminar will include:
-Most common blues rhythms
-Mastering the 3 blues “boxes”
-How to solo like a pro with only 5 notes
-Q & A period (open topics, questions, whatever)
