Since 1985, the Ottawa Children’s Festival (OCF) has hosted an annual celebration of the best in live performing arts for children. Creating programs for children, the Festival focuses on enriching school curriculum and promoting the arts as an integral part of children’s education; strives to present work that excites and challenges audiences of all ages; and prides itself on developing and producing award winning programming that comes from across Canada and around the world. Schools, community groups, caregivers and families of children age 2 to 15 are the target audience of the OCF.
OCF’s June Virtual Event will showcase three productions from national and internationally renowned artists for you to view and enjoy with your students from the comfort of your homes or classroom. The Festival will also have two special performances from sponsors WPBS and BIG JUMP Entertainment that will be offered at specific times during our event for audiences to enjoy.
Cyclo (Non-Verbal) – a celebration of the cycles of life using music, dance and instruments from Mexico, Central, and South America.
Snail and the Whale (English) – a girl and her father reimagining the tale of a snail’s incredible trip around the world.
Old Man and the River (Non-Verbal) – the tale of a grumpy old man whose life changes when a magical creature leaps into his world.
WPBS (English) – Fun with WPBS – WPBS will be presenting PBS Kids’ newest kids program, Donkey Hodie, a puppet show inspired by Mister Rogers’ Neighbourhood, where kids are empowered to learn how to solve life’s challenges on their own.
BIG JUMP Entertainment (English) – Big Words, Short Stories Reading with Judith Henderson – Beloved Canadian author, Judith Henderson, will be on hand to do a reading of her popular book series soon to be an animated TV series brought to you by BIG JUMP Entertainment on TVOKids, June 7, 2021, Big Words, Small Stories, along with a LIVE Q&A session!
