Experimental Film and Photochemical Practices: Spotlight on Film Farm

This online screening is organised in association with Kim Knowles’ recently published book “Experimental Film and Photochemical Practices” (Palgrave Macmillan). The book discusses in detail The Independent Imaging Retreat (Film Farm), established by Philip Hoffman and Marian McMahon in 1994, and incorporates an autoethnographic account of the experience. The programme showcases a selection of films discussed in this chapter, weaving together artisanal practices, perspectives on landscape, bodily expressions, and feminist concerns.
