Events Description

This season’s The Comedy of Errors is a fast paced, farcical journey to a southern Florida trailer park with two sets of twins and mistaken identity.

Separated in a violent storm Antipholus and Dromio of Syracuse arrive in an Ephesus trailer park in search of their long lost twin brothers – unaware their father Aegeon has also arrived there on the same quest. However, Aegeon is busted as an illegal immigrant from the foreign land of Syracuse and he is quickly arrested and sentenced to death. Unknown to all three of them is that the lost Antipholus and Dromio have been living in Ephesus for many years. Everyone is packing heat but friendly as anything as folks greet the visiting brothers like old friends, and a woman claims to be Antipholus’s wife!

Imagine bible thumpin’ shotgun toting good old boys and gals, track suits, mullets and alligator boots – a friendly send up of our Southern neighbours where Shakespeare meets Nascar culture with a dash of South Park!

WHEN & WHERE

Date & Time: July 4 – August 18, 2019

Venue: Affinity Credit Union Main Stage

Located along the Meewasin Trail between the 25th Street (University) Bridge and the Prairie Lily Riverboat dock.

There are a few different places to park at the festival:

  • The City Hospital Staff Parking lot located on Queen Street
  • The two parking lots located next to the Festival Site
  • The Kinsmen Park parking lot next to the YWCA building
  • The Nutrien Playland parking area

City Hospital’s parking lot will be the easiest option for parking, as the lot is available for our patrons after 6:00pm and has enough spots to accommodate most festival patrons. The other three options tend to fill up fast with Nutrien Playland’s popularity, so be sure to check City Hospital first before moving on to another option.

Accessibility
Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan’s mandate is to be accessible to all; as such, the festival site is accessible for patrons with mobility issues. Special seating is also available for patrons with mobility issues, upon request. For more details on these seats or any other questions about mobility, call the box office at (306) 652-9100.
