A Staged Reading as a benefit for the AFC
YXE Shakespeare Lab presents Shakespeare’s late play, The Winter’s Tale, as a staged reading. All proceeds will be going to the AFC (formerly the Actors’ Fund of Canada).
The Winter’s Tale is one of Shakespeare’s beloved “romance plays,” mixing comedy, tragedy, and elements similar to that found in fairy tales. The story is thrown into motion when Leontes, the king of Sicilia, comes to believe that his wife, Hermione, has been unfaithful. His jealousy and abuse of power rips his family apart and throws his country into turmoil. Can time heal all wounds? Is it possible for what is lost to be found again?
The reading will feature Johanna Arnott, James Avramenko, Pyper Brandon, Skye Brandon, Sam Fairweather, Kristi Friday, Kate Herriot, Cheryl Jack, Kenn McLeod, Gordon Portman, Danielle Spilchen, Bob Wicks, and Cole Winterhalt. Stage Managed by Jalisa Gonie.
Saskatoon Shakespeare Lab is committed to giving theatre artists the chance to explore the plays of Shakespeare, to bring Shakespeare to students, and to produce the lesser known works of Shakespeare.
