We attended Christmas on High Street at Black Creek Pioneer Village and thoroughly enjoyed it. Actors at many buildings recounting pioneer life and Christmas stories, and even a small tin Christmas tree ornament from the Tinker! Apple cider and sugar cookies were perfect for strolling and enjoying the candlelit homes.

The Christmas dinner (separate fee), was back in the small banquet hall in the main building. It offered a set Christmas dinner menu, with the option of a risotto dish for those who don’t like Turkey. While the food was delicious overall the stuffing was atypical in taste, lacking in the traditional sage seasoning, and the cranberry sauce lacked cranberries, rather it was soupy. Most disappointing of all was that the main course arrived at room temperature which was unappetizing.

We enjoyed the charcuterie board and appetizers.

Overall, a cozy dinner with attentive serving teams, but the food should be served hot and careful attention to how stuffing and cranberry sauces are prepared. If the main course was served hot, it would have been much better.

For the price paid, we felt underwhelmed.
