Events Description
Building on its overwhelming success of last summer, Free Main Floor returns on July 2 with live performances, educational activities for kids, and access to ROM’s 80,000 square-foot first floor—all for free*! Plus, new this year, performances will also take place outside the building on the Helga and Mike Schmidt Performance Terrace overlooking Philosopher’s Walk.

Admission to the Daphne Cockwell Gallery dedicated to First Peoples art & culture is free of charge to the public all year round.
- Activity Stations: Hands-on activities include touchable specimens, games, colouring, puzzles, writing, and much more. Activities, objects, and specimens change on a weekly basis, so come back often to learn, and create something new!
- First Peoples Gallery: Learn about Inuit culture and Arctic life with activities connected to our current exhibition, Tusarnitut! Music Born of the Cold.
- China Gallery: Immerse yourself and learn more about Chinese, Japanese, and Korean art and culture at this fun station.
- BASF Kids’ Lab: Interactive workshops that encourage kids to discover the world of chemistry through fun experiments.
- Create a Chromatography Butterfly: Blend art with science to make colourful butterflies.
- Live Performances: Swing by the Museum any day of the week to enjoy Toronto’s diverse cultural communities through a wide array of live music and dance performances. Upcoming performances include renowned vocalist Maryem Tollar, Medusa, a chamber-folk quartet; Indigenous fancy shawl dancing by Cedar Smoke; and beatboxing champion Scott Jackson.
