Sun Fun - Astronomy Family Night – When Day Turns to Night: Solar Eclipses Families will enjoy “When Day Turns to Night: Solar Eclipses, Past and Future” with Professor Robin Byrne- Northeast State Community College, as we await the arrival the biggest astronomy event of 2024. After the presentation, Participants will enjoy age-appropriate celestial activities; including a tour of the observatory to see a demonstration of the 74” telescope

Be prepared for the historic solar eclipse on April 8.
Safely observe the sun with us and prepare for the Total Solar Eclipse! During these family-friendly sessions, a DDO Astronomer will answer your questions about our closest star: the sun! Learn how the sun works and why solar eclipses happen. Views of the sun through small telescopes will be included, weather permitting. All participants will leave with eclipse glasses for safe solar observing and enjoy a tour of the RHDDO facility.
