Events Description

Experience the thrill of all five of Beethoven’s Piano Concerti performed by some of the most outstanding talent from home and abroad. SITB 2023celebrates the best of music, culture, and food, presented live in the idyllic setting of Glencolton Farms, Durham.

Set on a fully operational 200-acre biodynamic dairy farm, Symphony in the Barn’s 2023 summer festival includes concerts, events, panel discussions, and composer residencies – a yearly convergence of innovative thinkers and world-renowned performers, centred on themes of sustainability, education, and artistic enlightenment.

With the tagline of “Where Culture Meets Agriculture”, the Symphony in the Barn Festival continues to critically and artistically enhance the interaction of the arts with larger society through site-specific and thematic curation in a rural agricultural setting: where a typical concert not only includes a full-scale performance, but also is accompanied by the sounds of the birds in the rafters, a visit by one of the farm animals, a starlight reception, and farm-baked refreshments.

2023

Join us for “Beethoven Evolution – Preparing the Ground” the first year of an epic musical venture 25 years in the making, following Ludwig van Beethoven’s groundbreaking musical journey through his repertoire of chamber, solo and orchestral music.
