‘Would you kill for money?’
In debt to the mob, Max Barber (Robert De Niro) — a greedy grind-house film producer — desperately needs money to save himself from getting ‘whacked.’ He decides to to produce a dangerous, new film — just for the sake of killing his lead actor in a stunt and collecting the insurance money. When he casts Duke Montana (Tommy Lee Jones) in his movie, he doesn’t expect the aging, washed-up movie star to find a renewed sense of life in front of the camera. As Duke survives stunt after stunt, Max starts upping the ante of life-threatening, on-set disasters — unwittingly finding himself making the best movie of his career.
