Solo Art Show Opening: Jeffrey Chong Wang

Join us to celebrate art with great crowd, wine & snacks and Live DJ!

Jeffrey Chong Wangs’ work is a reflection of his emotions and memories, and demonstrates his understanding and interpretation of life experience and the world that surrounds himself. Wang has lived in Canada since 1999, however his time spent growing up in native China has been an important influence on his artwork. Wang utilizes portraits of his family members at different ages as well as different locations in China that he recalls from his past.
All the figures that he creates are a self portrait in many sense as they reflect his cultural upbringing, personal feelings and experiences. Wang creates characters in a landscape embedding them with drama–using the canvas as a stage. Wangs’ work is a response to the imbalance he emotionally feels of himself and the outside world–fusing classical concepts and traditional techniques into his work using own exaggerated figures. These figures reflect the history of Western oil painting techniques but also show contemporary themes of Eastern culture.Wang exhibits internationally and his exhibitions have grown with us over the years to include not only his home town here in Canada in Toronto but also: Montreal, Canada; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Rome, Italy; Tokyo, Japan; China; Los Angeles, USA and many more.
