This March Break, TIFF Kids stages a takeover at TIFF Bell Lightbox! Between March 9 and 18, young film lovers will gather to enjoy the best of international and Canadian cinema selected for kids aged 3 –13, as the TIFF Kids International Film Festival returns. From films tackling tough topics to those exploring wondrous adventures and notions of ability, this 21st edition of the festival boasts an inspired lineup of programming sure to delight, inform and influence. With programming reflecting Toronto’s diversity, kids from all over the GTA can learn, play, and enjoy at this festival specifically designed with them in mind.

Flanked by two weekends packed with programming, this year’s festival moves to March Break so even more children and families willhave the opportunity to get in on the fun and engage with the festival.

Opening this year’s festival is White Fang. Set during the Klondike gold rush of the 1890s, this animated tale chronicles the life of a wolf dog who experiences the best and worst of humanity and learns to overcome. From Academy Award winner Alexandre Espigares, this adaptation of White Fang is a captivating story of friendship, survival and redemption with an excellent voice cast including Paul Giamatti, Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman and Eddie Spears.

Highlights include screenings of Nora Twomey’s Academy Award Nominated animated feature
The Breadwinner, which had its World Premiere at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival; the Canadian Premiere of Maya the Bee – The Honey Games; intergenerational tale of potential and self-discovery Stardust, and, from Academy Award–nominated Magic Light Pictures, The Highway Rat.

This year’s lineup is the most diverse to date, with over 100 films from over 40 countries. To complete the TIFF Kids experience, screenings of films with subtitles will feature a live, in -cinema reader so even the youngest audience members can get in on the action.

For the second year, TIFF Kids will also offer screenings in a sensory friendly environment designed to provide the best experience for patrons with sensory sensitivities such as those with autism spectrum disorder.
