Uncover Stories of the Railways’ Impact in Toronto!

“Tales of the Rails” will uncover how Toronto’s railways shaped the social landscape of the city since their introduction in the early 1800s. How were Toronto’s oldest communities impacted by the development of the railways? Join us to find out!

Tales of the Rails is an approximately 30-minute, in-depth, guided walking tour that takes visitors around Roundhouse Park and into our historical buildings, locomotives, and passenger cars. Admission into the museum space in Stall 17 of the Roundhouse is included in this ticket.

TOUR HIGHLIGHTS

  • Discover what life was like at the John Street Roundhouse when the world was embroiled in the Second World War
  • Commemorate the Black Canadians who served as Sleeping Car Porters and propelled the Civil Rights Movement in Canada
  • See the interior of our restored rolling stock, such as GO Cab #104, TH&B Caboose #70, and CPR Cape Race (tour stops are subject to change based upon availability)

All staff are required to wear a mask. We strongly encourage visitors to wear a non-medical mask or face covering if they are able, frequently wash or sanitize hands, and maintain physical distancing inside and outside of the museum and on tours. We thank our visitors in advance for complying with these new modifications.

We will limit the number of visitors in the museum and on guided tours. All visits to the museum must be pre-booked through Eventbrite. Timed ticketing is being used to manage the number of visitors to the museum.
