Events Description

Su Beng, The Revolutionist is a Taiwanese documentary screening at 2021 TAIWANfest, spotlighting the story about a freedom fighter who was fueled from dreaming of what is impossible. Throughout Su Beng’s life, he had been active across four continents, fighting against three regimes. Some say he is a Don Quixote, dreaming of a nation that was never possible during that time, or a Che Guevara, an active revolutionary who kept on seeking for change in East Asia. His whole life was dedicated to being on the run, fleeing back and forth between Taiwan and Japan throughout the Japanese occupation period. In this documentary, audiences are able to watch Su Beng aged 97 years old and blind in one eye, but still full of fighting spirit.
Su Beng, The Revolutionist screens at The ANNEX on Sept 5th. More details at https://vancouvertaiwanfest.ca/
