Drop by FortWhyte Alive throughout the holiday season to enjoy some fresh air. Try new crafts, games, skills, and more as you create new connections with nature.

Frosty Family Fun Activities Include:

  • Eco Craft – Thursday, December 22

Join us to make your very own sustainable ornament. Be able to decorate your tree at home or outside using sustainable materials!

  • Giant Games – Friday, December 23

From Giant Jenga to Tug O’ War, challenge your group to compete at these large scale versions of favourite games!

  • Snowshoe Orienteering – Tuesday, December 27

Strap on the snowshoes and lead yourself on a fun adventure to find a set of orienteering clues. If you find all of the clues and solve for the secret word, you’ll be rewarded with a prize.

*Snowshoe rental fees apply

  • Footprint Challenge – Wednesday, December 28

Try your hand at identifying all the different footprints on FortWhyte Alive’s trails! Be sure to walk carefully and not miss even the smallest prints!

  • Ice Fishing – Thursday, December 29

Try your hand at this classic winter activity. The fishing fee will be waived today, and gear rentals will be on us, making it the perfect time to head out on the ice to see what you can catch. Fishing gear is first-come, first-served.

  • Family Photo Hunt – Friday, December 30

Head out on the trail to experience the world around you in a new way, capturing those nature-inspired moments with your camera.

  • Maple Taffy – Monday, January 2

Find your way to our sodhouse taffy station to enjoy a maple taffy treat! While supplies last.

  • Winter Bingo – Tuesday, January 3

Grab a bingo card and head out onto the trail to challenge your family! First to get a line any which way is declared the winner of outdoor winter bingo!

  • Hatchet Throwing – Wednesday, January 4

Hatchet throwing is an undeniably fun and unique way to spend time with friends or family, learn a new skill, and connect with nature in a new way. No experience necessary — we’ll have you throwing like a pro in no time!

Suggested for families with children under the age of 16.

Getting to FortWhyte Alive via downtown Winnipeg:
Take Pembina Hwy {route 42} south until you reach McGillivray Blvd {route 155}
Turn west on {155} and drive past the FortWhyte Alive Outdoor Adventure Site entrance until you see the FortWhyte Alive turnoff at McCreary Road (it is clearly marked).
