Events Description

 

Join a Park Interpreter in discovering the remnants of an ancient lake and the glaciers that shaped much of Manitoba’s topography. We’ll explore an ancient beach ridge, and make some stops along the way to discover the boreal forest.

Be sure to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring water for this 2 km/ 1.5 hour hike. Meet at the Ancient Beach Trailhead.

Sunday Special Hikes! The hikes on Sunday morning will be presented with a special focus on a unique theme.

  • Sunday, July 4 – Black Blears: We’ll look for signs of these incredible animals as well as learn what to do when you come across one.
  • Sunday, July 11 – Citizen Science: Discover citizen science and how you can help biologists protect our diverse birds and wildlife.
  • Sunday, July 18 – Forest Forensics: What’s killing the park’s trees? Help crack the case and find the suspect by using forestry tools and techniques.
  • Sunday, July 25 – Nature’s Pantry: Discover the edible wilds that grow in the forest and how to safely and sustainably harvest these delicious treats.

An adult must accompany children under 12.
