Events Description

How it Ends By Debbie Patterson
An immersive, interactive dance/theatre piece that explores end-of-life choices and personal experience.

Sick + Twisted Theatre

Playwright Debbie Patterson is living with MS, and strives to use her disability to provide insight into what it means to accept the body’s vulnerability. This exploration of end-of-life, seen through the lens of disability, allows Patterson to use her lived experience of a progressive, debilitating, incurable illness to provide a new understanding of what makes life worth living, the value of suffering, and the pleasure of surrendering control.

Sick + Twisted Theatre was established by artists living with disabilities to address the fact that they are grossly underrepresented in the creation and presentation of theatre in Canada and yet artists with disabilities have an understanding of the universal truths of the human condition that can only be arrived at by confronting the challenges presented to us by their exceptional bodies. Sick + Twisted believes that theatre is for anybody with a body, creating work that is risky, rigorous and innovative: an accurate reflection of the experience of living with disability. >> More information about Sick + Twisted
