If you’re planning a trip to the Rocky Mountains this summer, particularly the Banff National Park, and you’re looking for a waterborne adventure like no other, then you need to make Rocky Mountain Raft Tours one of your stops along your trip.
If the rafting you’re used to causes you to bring a change of clothes, then this isn’t exactly that kind of rafting. This isn’t whitewater rafting – think of it more as a guided Zodiac cruise down the gorgeous Bow River.
Rocky Mountain Raft Tours allows you to see Banff and the surrounding areas from the water.
While you might think of the rivers surrounding the Rockies as coursing, churning, fast-moving water – and while that certainly is a feature of some of the rivers throughout the Rocky Mountain range – Athabasca, for example, has rough sections – these tours ensure relaxation and pleasantry, rather than fearing for one’s life.
This allows you to bring along your camera and take some shots of the gorgeous scenery! Whether you’re a professional photographer, or simply a tourist travelling through, there’s always something to be seen in the Rockies – they just offer you a different perspective!
Rocky Mountain Raft Tours
The launch site is located at the base of Bow Falls, near the Banff Springs Golf Course – merely 5 minutes from downtown Banff. You’ll travel approximately 7km down the Bow River over the course of an hour – with stunning views of Tunnel Mountain, Sleeping Buffalo Mountain and Cascade Mountain.
You’ll float past the Hoodoos and finish the tour by landing at the north face of Mount Rundle.
From there, you’ll be shuttled back to the launch site. There is enough space in the parking lot near the launch site for 40 vehicles.
The 25-passenger crafts are open to all from the age of three and up, with a maximum weight of 300lbs. While the boat’s maximum capacity is 25 people, the preference for Rocky Mountain Raft Tour operators is 16, with eight on each end – a boat captain in the middle – responsible for guiding you along the journey.
The tours run from 11:20AM – 5:20PM each day, from May 15th to September 30th.
One of the best things about Rocky Mountain Raft Tours is that their pricing is family-friendly. While it’s $70/per person for adults (15+), those between the ages of 2 and 15 travel for $30.00. Included in the pricing is the cost of a shuttle bus to bring you to and from the launch site.
