Plan a trip to Ottawa this weekend, you can see various buildings for free, plus there are many festivals where-in you can enjoy delicious food.
Doors Open Ottawa is returning for its 21st edition on June 3 and 4.
You can also tour many architecturally and historically rich buildings not open to the public during that weekend. This year’s Doors Open Ottawa will offer both in-person and virtual tours, allowing everyone to participate.
Some of the featured buildings this year include the Connaught Building, the Ottawa Main Mosque, and the Circle of Nations Learning Centre. The Connaught Building, with its majestic castle-like design, will be open from 10 am to 4 pm on both days. The Ottawa Main Mosque, a landmark along Scott Street, welcomes visitors from 10 am to 4 pm on June 3 and 4. The Circle of Nations Learning Centre, located at the Central Experimental Farm, offers a glimpse into Canadian research in astronomy and geophysics but is open only on Saturday, June 3.
This year, Doors Open Ottawa has partnered with the Ottawa Regional Society of Architects (ORSA) to bring you an exciting photo contest. During the Doors Open Ottawa weekend, you’re invited to capture the architectural design, historical significance, or contemporary look of the buildings and submit your photos. The winners in each of the five categories will receive a gift certificate from a local business, and their photos will be featured in ORSA promotions, including Ottawa Architecture Week.
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to explore architecturally and historically rich buildings for free! Keep in mind that pre-registration is required for select buildings, including the Diefenbunker: Canada’s Cold War Museum, Earnscliffe National Historic Site of Canada, the Embassy of Hungary to Canada/Birkett Castle, the French Embassy in Canada, and the University of Ottawa Skills and Simulation Centre. Plan accordingly and secure your spot for these exclusive tours.
