Speedtest by Ookla is used by millions around the world to test the speed and performance of their internet connection.
The company released the latest Global Index which ranks the best internet providers and the download speed across the world for the fourth quarter of 2020.
Among the countries of the world, Canada comes in 10th for the best mobile internet performance and 19th for fixed broadband.
Within Canada, during the fourth quarter of 2020, Ookla says Rogers was the fastest fixed broadband provider and TELUS was the fastest mobile operator among top providers in Canada.
Among Canada’s provinces, for the fourth quarter of 2020, Alberta had the fastest mean mobile download speed and Saskatchewan had the slowest mean mobile download speed. Over fixed broadband, New Brunswick had the fastest mean download speed and Yukon Territory had the slowest mean download speed.
According to Ookla, Edmonton and Calgary took the top two spots for the fastest mean download speed over both mobile and broadband among Canada’s most populous cities during Q4 of 2020.
