DESCRIPTION:In October 1998\, 21-year-old Matthew Shepard was kidnapped\, s
everely beaten\, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie out
side Laramie\, Wyoming. His bloody\, bruised\, and battered body was not d
iscovered until the next day\, and he died several days later in an area h
ospital. He was the victim of this assault because he was gay. Moisés Kau
fman and fellow members of the Tectonic Theatre Project made 6 trips to La
ramie over the course of a year and a half\, in the aftermath of the beati
ng and during the trial of the 2 young men accused of killing Shepard. The
y conducted more than 200 interviews with the people of the town and const
ructed a deeply moving theatrical experience from these interviews and the
 ir own experiences in Laramie.
