Hot honey has found its way onto everything from pizza to chicken. Now, A&W Canada is putting the sweet-and-spicy combination somewhere a little different: the Teen Burger.
Starting Thursday, October 8, A&W Canada will introduce the Hot Honey BBQ Teen Burger at restaurants nationwide. The limited-time burger was developed in partnership with BULL’S-EYE and adds a new Hot Honey BULL’S-EYE BBQ sauce to the familiar Teen Burger combination.
The burger starts with A&W’s seasoned grass-fed beef patty and is topped with real cheddar cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion and tomato. The main change is the sauce, which combines hot honey with smoky BBQ flavours for a mix of sweetness and heat.
While hot honey is often associated with chicken and pizza, A&W is betting that it works just as well with beef.
“Hot honey is usually reserved for chicken or pizza, but on our Teen Burger, the honey sweetness, subtle heat and smokiness take the swicy to a whole new level,” said Karan Suri, Senior Director of Innovation at A&W Canada.
The collaboration with BULL’S-EYE also gives A&W a way to carry some familiar barbecue flavours beyond the summer months. Rather than introducing an entirely new burger, the company has taken one of its established menu items and changed its flavour profile with the sweet, spicy and smoky sauce.
For anyone curious about the new combination, there is a relatively short wait. The Hot Honey BBQ Teen Burger arrives across Canada on October 8 and will be available for a limited time.
Customers can order it at participating A&W restaurants or through the A&W mobile app.
