Calgary woodworkers, Adrian Pool, Martinus Pool, and Anne Tranholm of AdrianMartinus have won the Etsy’s 2020 Design Awards.
The 2020 Etsy design winners are chosen from a thousands of independent makers and curators who enter the annual competition.
This year, the awardees were selected by Etsy Expert Dayna Isom Johnson and actress and entrepreneur Drew Barrymore.
The trio behind Canadian homewares shop AdrianMartinus won the grand prize $15,000 USD for their upcycled skateboard credenza, the Stackton.
Awarding the prize, Drew Barrymore said, This piece is so beautiful and at first glance, you would never know that it’s actually made out of recycled skateboards—how cool is that?”
“The design is so sleek, and I really appreciate the functionality of the sliding doors and adjustable shelves.”
AdrianMartinus upcycle old skateboards, transforming them into stunning pieces of modern furniture.
AdrianMartinus was founded by brothers Adrian and Martinus Pool in 2012. They also have produced an entire homewares line ranging from bowls to tables.
The award-winning Stackton were originally conceived as a record cabinet, a colorful way to display their treasures. “The beauty of the tambour doors is you can leave them open to display your records or books, or simply close them and enjoy the look of the wood,” Adrian says.
If you want to buy the Stackton, it is available online at their website and Etsy Shop for $5500.00
