Canada Day 2026: Official Programming Announced for Ottawa Celebrations

On July 1, 2026, Canada will mark the 159th anniversary of Confederation with nationwide celebrations centred in the Capital Region.

The Minister of Canadian Identity and Culture and Minister responsible for Official Languages, has announced the official programming for Canada Day 2026.

The July 1 celebrations will include national broadcasts, public events in Canada’s Capital Region and community celebrations across the country.

The national noon ceremony will take place at LeBreton Flats Park in Ottawa starting at noon ET. It will be broadcast on CBC, Radio-Canada and their digital platforms. The ceremony will include historical moments and invited guests, with more details still to come.

The national evening show, titled Celebrating our Canada!, will run from 8 to 10 p.m. ET from LeBreton Flats Park, with segments from Moncton, New Brunswick, and Winnipeg, Manitoba. The evening show will be presented in English and French, with American Sign Language and Langue des signes québécoise available on selected live streams.

The lineup includes Adam Baldwin, Alessia Cara, Barenaked Ladies, Beatrice Deer, Diane Dufresne, Dominique Fils-Aimé, Isabelle Boulay, Lisa LeBlanc, MICO, Noeline Hofmann, Pierre Lapointe, P’tit Belliveau, Sylvia Cloutier, Andrina Turenne and Begonia. Isabelle Racicot will host.

The O Canada! Station contest is also returning for a second year. Canadians can submit short video greetings, with some featured during the evening broadcast. Eligible entrants can win a VIA Rail Canada trip in 2026 and a VIP experience at Canada Day 2027.

In Ottawa and Gatineau, official sites include LeBreton Flats Park, Parliament Hill, the Supreme Court of Canada and Old Hull. The day will end with the Tim Hortons Canada Day Fireworks.

Canada Day Official Celebrations

LeBreton Flats Park

LeBreton Flats Park will offer family-focused daytime activities along Kichi Zībī Mīkan, including a community mural led by Ojibwe/settler-mixed artist Stephanie Babij, Festive Avenue, With Love, Canada!, a 360 video booth, Boler photobooth, makeover stations and a Canada-themed swing photo opportunity for visitors looking to capture the day together onsite.
The program also includes movement, performance and evening entertainment, with Les Ah exclamatifs! from Bouge de là, dance battles, Krump sessions with Adeline Cruz and Jr Maddripp, line dancing, the Animated Stage, Busker Zone, Canadian short films, a DJ Montana preshow, the national evening concert and Tim Hortons fireworks finale.
Daytime Ceremony starting at noon

Parliament Hill

Parliament Hill’s Canada Day program highlights ceremonial music and national traditions, with performances by the Ceremonial Guard Band, the Royal Canadian Air Force Pipes and Drums, and the 742 Air Cadet Squadron Music Programs. Visitors can also use the Canada Day-themed 360 video booth to capture slow-motion keepsakes.
The Snowbirds will be returning for their final aerial show on Tutor aircraft. Together, the program offers a more traditional Canada Day setting, built around military music, youth performers, photo experiences and a flypast over one of the country’s most recognizable landmarks.

Supreme Court of Canada

On the Supreme Court of Canada’s website, visitors can begin with Om Canada!, then explore the building’s historic architecture and the judicial system. Families can also enjoy the Flag Day photo swing, Canada Day’s Giant Bike, bookmark colouring, cyanotype art, djembe drumming, party tattoos and a makeup station.
The program adds live entertainment throughout the day, including improvisation performances by LNI, Eric Leclerc’s magic shows and a DJ Boogie Battle where visitors can vote for their favourite tracks. The mix gives the site a block-party feel, with hands-on activities, performances and family-friendly surprises.

Old Hull

Old Hull’s Canada Day program starts with a family-focused afternoon at 173 Wellington Street in Gatineau, featuring giant games, inflatable structures, face painting and music from DJ Gloryhull. Visitors can also try “Le Loop,” an interactive DJ booth offering quick, hands-on workshops in the basics of DJing.
The evening lineup shifts to live music, with Toronto rapper, musician and producer Haviah Mighty bringing sharp lyricism and high energy to the stage. Qualité Motel follows with Franky Fade and Virginie B, before francophone rap artist LOUD closes the celebrations after the fireworks.
